  • I'm terrible at crochet, and I can't knit at all, but in 2019 I was invited to take my jewellery to a local fair, celebrating all things yarny, called Wild About Wool.

I wanted to make some specific items that would be of interest, and whilst I thought about tiny balls of wool and needles for necklaces and earrings, I remembered something my nan used to have.

My granddad had adjusted her tailor's thimble to put a curve in it, to help her separate her wool when knitting.

I must have been under 7, because my great grandmother was still living with them at this point. I only remember the ring from the one visit, and none of them remain today to help me with my memory. I've tried to replicate the principle, and have created these, adjustable, sterling silver Hooker Rings.

I took them along to the fair, and sold out of all I made on day 1.

I'm regularly making more, and here they are.

Each will be slightly different, as I make them individually. You can adjust the sizing by pinching the tops together, or squeezing them apart, or of course, you can tell me the size you want your's to be, and I'l adjust it for you before I dispatch it (you'll still be able to tweak it)

You can see videos of them in use on my Instagram and Facebook pages, and also at @LilyPondYarns pages. (buy the gorgeous fine natural wool shown in my photo from them here  https://www.lilypondyarns.com/)

I've found that wearing it on my ring finger, saves me having to tangle my little finger and stops the cramp I get with my broomstick crochet. It was really interesting how people wore them on their leading hand, or not and turned in or out.

Multiple loop option shown on my finger, single loop, which has three basic stamping options - hearts, flowers or dots (these will vary slightly - examples shown) displayed on the ring cone (in front of my piece of broomstick crochet!) and in the final collages
