  • I've been doing a bit of stone setting recently - I'm always on the look out for interesting stones, and as prehnite is one of my favourites, and this is such a lovely shape, I had to have it.

I've used an unusually shaped, smooth, apple green prehnite, set in a fine silver bezel on a sterling silver back. I textured the backplate and soldered silver balls to it before connecting the wavy components I made.

I've sawn out a segment on the reverse to allow the light through which is where you'll find my hallmark.

I wanted to make it a little more interesting than a standard pendant. so I made the components either side, wrapping further, faceted prehnite rondelles at to the ends of that. I've then used some sterling silver belcher chain and added a hand forged S clasp and jump ring to the back.

This measures 16 inches (42 cm) with stone set element measuring 23mm x 35mm, the wavy bars measure 4cm each, and the total length (to stop me from keeping it for myself!) is 16inches.

This exact, unique necklace is available for instant dispatch.

I am very happy to adjust the length by adding more jump rings to the closure, or indeed shorten it; please add instructions to your order; if you would like me to do this

As with all my fully hand crafted pieces, I used certified recycled sterling silver.

    • Sterling Silver will eventually oxidise or tarnish. It's a natural process that can be slowed down by regular wear and by keeping unworn items away from the atmosphere. If you leave your jewellery out on display, this oxidisation will be faster.  You can polish up your items, with a soft cloth, some silver polish, or a buffing cloth such as Town Talk, which is readily available from any high street jewellers in the UK

Fine silver is 99.9% silver, and because of this the tarnish rate is much, much slower. Again, a buff should do the job for polishing it back up. If I have patinated your silver already, be gentle when buffing!

Each piece should stand up to regular wear, but , as with all jewellery, please remove it before washing, using chemicals or applying perfume etc

Apply body lotion and perfume a few minutes before putting on your jewellery to help slow down tarnish

The sterling silver used in these items was sold to me by my bullion dealer as certified recycled.
