Science fiction inspired USS Enterprise style earrings made from fine silver* and available either with patination or super shiny ....
Dimensions are; each Enterprise is 23mm x 5mm and weighs 1 gramThe drop I find most comfortable is about 22mm from piercing, and I can make these with a different length, depending on how you want them. Tell me in your comments, or allow me to decide and have a surprise!
I made my own moulds for these, so you won't find any quite the same, anywhere else. The silver clay is fired using #MrTumnus, my UltraLite kiln; I have a video of some clay firing here - https://youtu.be/apNt8Gf2pYA
Because I mould them individually there will be slight variations to the thickness. I prefer these with a light patination, suggesting a recent encounter with a Klingon Bird of Prey (!) but if you would prefer them to be super shiny, then let me know and I will make your like like that.
The patination, is applied using a traditional method (liver of sulphur) and after a finishing polish, I also apply a light layer of renaissance wax to protect the shading.
Because it's a hand crafted process I can't promise future earrings will have exactly the same shades, nor that the earwires will be in the exact same alignment - I've deliberately soldered these on at angles for the illusion of warp speed, but if you would prefer that I make yours with a specific angle, just tell me.
These will eventually change in colour as they age; but with normal wear it will take a long time, and you will be able to buff them up easily, using any standard silver polish / polishing cloth. Any major polishing, will remove the colours and the patination in full, so be gentle!
Please allow me a week to 10 days to make your pair - it takes a while for the clay to dry between each stage.
Also let me know if you would like to mix and match a pair from this or my other listings (or indeed if you want to buy just one) as that can be arranged :-)
I have listed photos of the most recent pair I made, which are unpatinated
Future pairs are made to order; please allow me a week - 10 days to do so.
Thanks for looking! Live Long and Prosper \\//_

Notes:
* This fine silver is ArtClaySilver, which starts life as silver dust, reclaimed from the refinement process, n Japan, and then with the addition of a natural binding agent, becomes a clay. I can then mould and form it as one would a traditional clay, firing it on a gas hob, or kiln. At this point the binder burn away, the clay shrinks approximately 10% and becomes 99.9% silver. I have (rather rubbish!) videos of this process on my facebook page and Youtube channel. The sterling silver used for the earwires is certified eco silver, sold to me as already reclaimed/recycled, by my bullion dealer.
Star ship USS Enterprise style 999 fine / pure and 925 sterling silver drop
Sterling Silver will eventually oxidise or tarnish. It's a natural process that can be slowed down by regular wear and by keeping unworn items away from the atmosphere. If you leave your jewellery out on display, this oxidisation will be faster. You can polish up your items, with a soft cloth, some silver polish, or a buffing cloth such as Town Talk, which is readily available from any high street jewellers in the UK
Fine silver is 99.9% silver, and because of this the tarnish rate is much, much slower. Again, a buff should do the job for polishing it back up. If I have patinated your silver already, be gentle when buffing!
Each piece should stand up to regular wear, but , as with all jewellery, please remove it before washing, using chemicals or applying perfume etc
Apply body lotion and perfume a few minutes before putting on your jewellery to help slow down tarnish
The sterling silver used in these items was sold to me by my bullion dealer ass certified recycled.
The gemstones I use have been sold to me by reputable dealers as untreated (unless stated specifically in the listing). They are a natural, organic creation from the earth and each one will be slightly different. You can see examples of this on my Facebook page.
I select the stones that I think go together best for each project, hence my comments that each item is individual.
